Dimly lit, dingy interiors will make you feel restless and unwelcome while sun-kissed, vibrant spaces have the opposite effect. The decor of your home plays a major role in bringing in positive vibrations and that happy feeling. “People often talk about the aura and vibe of a house and these factors are extremely crucial as they guide one’s headspace and outlook towards life. It is necessary to have a home that reverberates with positivity and leaves you feeling recharged,” says Shweatali Pagar, co-founder, La Muse, an interior decor platform. As per Pagar, the presence of positive vibes in the house gives an individual the confidence and patience to overcome life’s challenges and lead a happy life. She shares a few simple tips to boost the positive energy in your home.

“As per vaastu and Feng Shui, flowing water is a symbol of wealth and prosperity. The sound of water creates a soothing effect, leaving residents rejuvenated. It even reactivates stagnant chi and releases the much-needed Yang energy. The northeast and east are compatible with this water element, especially for the garden placement,” explains Pagar. If space is limited, you can get a small water fountain, if square footage is not an issue then a water feature such as a pond, or an elaborate fountain will make all the difference.

Many experts say the very sight of horses motivates a person to move forward in life. “They are a representation of courage, speed and endurance. By placing a horse statue in your abode, you will be driving home prosperity, good health and immense happiness,” says Pagar, adding: “However, while placing stallions in your house, make sure they are facing a door or window.”

“By simply placing Buddha and Ganesha these statues in your home, you can attract radiant and spiritual energy. It is advisable to keep the statues in the northeast direction, especially in your living room. If you are looking to get an idol for your garden area, then go for a statue coupled with a water fountain,” says Pagar. Several people find Buddha’s serene smile instantly calming, others relate to the vibrations they feel from Lord Ganesha. The market is full of many options to choose from, so matching the statue with your interiors is very easy.

As per the art of Feng Shui, Foo Dogs are considered protectors of the house. “They guard the house and ward off negative energies. The best area to place them is the entrance of your home, with the statues facing outwards. You should always keep the male Fu Dog symbol on the right and the female one on the left,” shares Pagar.

“According to ancient Chinese traditions, they are considered star gods. Their presence brings prosperity, fortune and longevity. The star gods watch over your overall well-being. You can not only place them in your house but also at your workplace,” she says. If you are keeping them at home, place them in your dining area with the statue facing the dining table or in your living room. “Doing so will promote abundance. At the office, keep them either behind your desk or workspace. However, don’t forget to place them at a prominent height,” adds the expert.

There are many more statues, idols and symbols that you can get for your home but above all this, it is most important to aid positive energy with the flowing fresh air and sunlight at home and being charitable (be it with your time, attention or money).
